Notes: This was my first time at this new venue which just opened last month. Very cool location right on the boardwalk. Like most covered amphitheaters, the acoustics were okay, nothing special. The band, however, was special. This was my second Avetts concerts and will not be my last. They put a on show! When they hit those opening chords of "Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise" it's chills down the spine. But if you're reading this you probably already know that. The recording is solid with no technical issues. Pretty rowdy crowd, chatty during the quiet songs, often singing along karaoke style. But hey, it's Saturday night, it's over 90 F at 11 PM and we're on the boardwalk watching the Avetts kick fucking ass, so who cares? You have to be half dead (or a taper...same thing?) to not sing along to these incredible songs. For you tapers out there, security at this new venue is a bag check (extremely light, often non-existent) and wanding. No walk-through metal detector. Plan accordingly!
