Emmylou Harris & The Hot Band - PBS Soundstage WXRT 93.1 MHz FM Stereo Simulcast Thursday October 19, 1978 Before the days of stereo TV or hi-fi VCR's, WXRT FM in Chicago would broadcast the stereo audio in sync with the PBS Soundstage TV music program on Thursday night. Sansui receiver > Concord DBA-10 external Dolby unit > TEAC 1230 > Shamrock tape @ 3.75 ips (...thirty-four years of calendar pages peel off and blow away...) Original reel (baked) > TEAC 1230 > Concord DBA-10 > Zoom R16 > Audacity > WAV > TLH > FLAC The first song had a lot of pretty severe dropouts in one channel. Fortunately, this abated pretty completely by the second song. I mixed some of the high frequencies from the right channel into the damaged left one, improving the situation somewhat. Careful listening will reveal persistent imperfections, but I thought preserving some stereo separation was preferable to making the firat track entirely monaural. Beyond that, no major EQ or NR was needed or attempted, and the tape kept rolling... Tracks 07 & 15 are omitted due to inclusion on the DVD disc of the Songbird: Rare Tracks and Forgotten Gems Box Set: Blue Kentucky Girl & Satan's Jewel Crown - from PBS' "Soundstage" (1978) Tracks 08-11 are a mini-set by Buck White & his gang. I eliminated almost all of the TV and radio station announcer interjections. I edited the applause around the omitted tracks so this upload should provide a nice clean gap-free listening experience. 01 Two More Bottles Of Wine (Delbert McClinton) 02 Easy From Now On (Susanna Clark & Carlene Carter) 03 To Daddy (Dolly Parton) 04 Luxury Liner (Gram Parsons) * 05 Even Cowgirls Get The Blues (Rodney Crowell) * 06 My Songbird (Jesse Winchester) * xx Blue Kentucky Girl (Johnny Mullins) 08 My Window Faces The South (Bob Wills) 09 Tumbling Tumbleweeds (Sons Of The Pioneers) * 10 Home (Karla Bonoff) 11 Swing Down Sweet Chariot (Traditional Gospel) 12 I Ain't Living Long Like This (Rodney Crowell) 13 The Angels Rejoiced Last Night (Louvin Brothers) 14 Leavin' Louisiana In The Broad Daylight (Rodney Crowell) xx Satan's Jewel Crown (Edgar L.
