MC Outro 1:05 Total Time : [49:06] I don't seem to have a record of the name of the venue - it was a small pub; internet searches suggest that The Charlotte is the most likely (indeed only) candidate. But The Charlotte website (http://www.thecharlotte.co.uk) suggests a capacity of 390. I remember it as being much smaller, more like 80 at a squeeze. The photo of the pub, and its location in Leicester probably back up the liklihood of it being the correct venue. Editing: Converted wave files to 32-bit, in preparation for the following major volume adjustments: Using Adobe Auditions multitrack view, I applied varying volume increases, basically +18db for the first set and +16db for the second set. During the audience applause, the volume was adjusted back down again, and some songs or sections of songs were increased by a lesser amount. Also, balance was shifted to the Left: "-20" by the Adobe measurement. The resulting mixdown still had a number of peaks above 0db. But, since this was a 32-bit wave the audio is represented correctly; there is no brick-walling. I used the "hard limiting" function to reduce 40 or 50 brief overloads in each set. The result is a recording that has very noticable amounts of hiss during the performance sections - which were originally performed and recorded very quietly - and sections of applause and laughter where it will sound as if the volume has been turned down (and there is less hiss). Actually, these changes are reasonably smooth and unintrusive - when listening through speakers, at least. During headphone listening, the background hiss & noise, and volume adjustments are far more noticable, probably to the point of some distraction. First 2 seconds of first set on master recording were left-channel only. Fixed by copying Left channel to right channel after all above-listed volume adjustments. Some smoothing over electrical click at the end of this section. length expanded size cdr WAVE problems filename 1:16.14 13439372 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t01.flac 3:36.44 38205932 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t02.flac 3:09.01 33341996 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t03.flac 4:09.08 43942460 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t04.flac 3:06.32 32885708 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t05.flac 2:57.15 31258124 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t06.flac 4:20.42 45962828 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t07.flac 2:59.16 31613276 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t08.flac 1:15.69 13392332 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t09.flac 5:58.64 63301772 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t10.flac 5:23.48 57090140 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t11.flac 5:19.65 56424524 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t12.flac 4:36.19 48731132 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t13.flac 6:07.73 64910540 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d1t14.flac 1:19.36 14020316 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t01.flac 6:45.32 71517308 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t02.flac 8:50.45 93597884 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t03.flac 4:24.59 46708412 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t04.flac 5:42.14 60361772 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t05.flac 2:56.35 31128764 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t06.flac 6:47.72 71964188 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t07.flac 4:47.55 50756204 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t08.flac 1:57.67 20796428 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t09.flac 4:27.74 47272892 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t10.flac 1:05.36 11550716 --- -- --xx pr2003-12-07d2t11.flac 103:22.60 1094175020 B (totals for 25 files, 0.4922 overall compression ratio)
