Side A begins with Flatt & Scruggs performing four songs live, perhaps from the Macon, GA-1964 performance found on Side B of this reel.  A 1964 Porter Wagoner show follows, and features performances by Roy Acuff & the Smoky Mountain Boys (with Brother Oswald Kirby on Dobro and banjo), Wagoner, and Pretty Miss Norma Jean.  Side A ends with a 1964 "Pet Evaporated Milk" radio broadcast featuring Flatt & Scruggs and Jean Shepard ("The Grand Lady of the Grand Ole Opry").  

Side B of R30 begins with a 1964 Flatt & Scruggs performance in Macon, GA, which is followed by a Flatt & Scruggs "Martha White Flour" radio broadcast of similar vintage.  Classic stuff.

The tape is a 7.5 inch per second mono recording.  The reel was played
on a modified Revox A77 reel-to-reel machine with a Reutelhuber custom designed and built tape head preamplifier incorporating 2003 era technology and componentsincluding all metal film resistors, polypropelene coupling capacitors, and low ESR electrolytic supply bypass capacitors.  The resulting analog signal was digitized 
by a Mytek Digital 8X96 analog to digital converter using Steinberg Nuendo as the recording software and saved as a 24 bit 48 kHz wave file.  

Post processing and was done with Nuendo using the following Waves 
Plugins: X-Hum, Q10, LinEQ Lowband, S1 Shuffler and L3.  The file was dithered down to a 16 bit/44.1kHz wave file.

The box is labeled 'Roy Acuff, F&S in Macon, GA'.  The reel is labeled 'Roy Acuff 9-12-02'
and 'FS Macon'.
