Tut Taylor Archive Reel #180 is labeled "Kallie Jean Widener, Aiken, SC", and features her singing a number of her own songs backed by electric guitar, bass, drums, and Tut's Dobro. Given the typical vintage of many of Tut's reels and the focus on the brief Tut radio spot which follows, I'd guess that this was recorded circa mid-1960s. Tut's Dobro really gives the band a nice bounce. Try as I might, I couldn't find any information on Kallie Jean; seems that there were never any formal issues of her fine singing. The tape ends with a short radio spot with Tut talking about his 1965 World Pacific LP "Dobro Country" recorded in California with Clarence and Roland White. Please note: all of the song titles for Kallie Jean Widener are my best guesses, and are listed primarily as tracking references. --Mitchell Wittenberg SPPS Archive Reel #180 Kallie Jean Widener, Aiken SC (with Tut Taylor and Band) Circa 1965: 1. Post processing and was done by David Avery with Nuendo using the following Waves Plugins: Q10, X-Hum, S1 Shuffler and L3. The file was dithered down to a 16 bit/44.1kHz wave file. ****PLEASE LEAVE THIS INFO IN THE TEXT FILE**** * * The spps is a non-profit dedicated to preserving historic tapes * Without public support, this project could not exist. * * These tapes must never be sold and may only be traded for free * with no money ever exchanging hands! * * Please consider helping the cause in a real way * more info at www.thespps.org * contact info@thespps.org with any questions * ************************************************
